The Celestia Genesis Airdrop has officially concluded, and it was observed that approximately two-thirds of the eligible addresses did not claim the airdrop.
The Genesis Airdrop for the modular blockchain network Celestia has officially closed, with a total of 584,232 addresses claiming the airdrop (7,579 developers and 576,653 regular addresses). They have collectively received 191,391 TIA, which accounts for 32.77% of the total airdrop. The distribution of these tokens is expected to take place within 1-2 weeks. Approximately 45 million TIA remains unclaimed, and these tokens will be distributed to the accounts that have already claimed the airdrop.
As per Celestia's initial airdrop design, a portion of unclaimed tokens (up to 45 million TIA) will be distributed to the addresses of users who have already claimed the airdrop. This will result in a change in the total TIA amount that each user can receive. The specific details of what users will receive can be checked on https://genesis.celestia.org shortly.
Additionally, Celestia has announced plans to release its mainnet in the coming weeks, which will allow participants to obtain TIA directly on the mainnet.
The Genesis Airdrop for TIA was originally scheduled for claiming on August 17th at 14:00 UTC and was later extended for an additional 18 hours to allow more time for claiming the airdrop.
The total supply of TIA in Celestia at Genesis is 1,000,000,000 TIA, ensuring a well-defined and transparent token ecosystem.
The TIA distribution in Celestia at Genesis is highly diverse across five key categories:
Public Distribution (20%): This category includes the Genesis Drop and incentives for the testnet (7.4%) and future planned allocations (12.6%). The Genesis Drop aims to involve developers and addresses from different ecosystems to open the doors to a vibrant Celestia ecosystem.
Research and Ecosystem (26.8%): A significant portion of TIA tokens is allocated to the Celestia Foundation and core developers. These funds are specifically allocated for research, development, and ecosystem initiatives, including protocol maintenance and support for Rollup developers, infrastructure, and node operators.
Early Supporters: A Round and B Round (19.7%): Early supporters of Celestia will receive rewards from this allocation, reflecting their contributions to the project's growth and development.
Early Supporters: Seed (15.9%): Seed supporters who provided critical early support will receive a portion of the initial TIA allocation.
Initial Core Contributors (17.6%): Members of Celestia Labs are the first core contributors to the project, and they are allocated a portion of TIA tokens to recognize their foundational role in network development.
