Linea Prepares for Next Major Release, Alpha V2, and Open Sources Linea Stack
Linea announced on X platform that it is preparing for the next major version, Alpha V2. The new version aims to lower transaction costs, improve speed, and achieve 100% EVM coverage. Additionally, Linea Stack will be open-sourced.
With the upcoming Dencon upgrade on Ethereum (EIP-4844), Alpha V2 will use blob to store call data on L1, significantly reducing Rollup costs. The team is also working on lowering fixed transaction costs by compressing data sent to L1 and aggregating proofs. Linea plans to reduce block time to 4 seconds, tripling the speed, and introduce mechanisms to further reduce block time in the future.
To accommodate client diversity, both Besu and Geth are supported, and the new Linea sorter will replace Linea-Geth with Linea-Besu.
Linea is collaborating with the MetaMask team to develop plans for better serving the Linea ecosystem.
