BNB Greenfield Testnet Storage Policy to Change, Including Periodic Removal of Inactive Buckets and Objects
According to official announcements, BNB Chain has introduced changes to storage policies on the BNB Greenfield testnet. With the BNB Greenfield mainnet live and providing users with a decentralized storage solution, the Greenfield testnet environment will undergo regular cleanup procedures starting from December 1, 2023. This means that inactive buckets and objects stored on the Greenfield testnet will be periodically cleared.
Key changes involved in this update include:
Regular Cleanup of Testnet Storage: To ensure optimal performance of the Greenfield testnet, routine cleanup processes will be implemented. This involves the periodic removal of buckets and objects stored on the testnet.
Bucket Lifecycle Limitation: Moving forward, buckets created on the Greenfield testnet that have a lifecycle exceeding 3 months will no longer support file uploads. After a 7-day grace period following this limitation, these buckets and their contents will be permanently deleted.
Recommended Actions: Developers are advised to carefully manage their buckets and files on the Greenfield testnet. If the usage duration of a bucket exceeds three months, appropriate measures should be taken to move or back up the data before the specified date.
Consideration of Long-Term Storage on Greenfield Mainnet: For storing data with a longer lifecycle, it is recommended to use the Greenfield mainnet. The mainnet provides a stable environment suitable for the long-term storage needs of important data.
