The three-day Farcaster Frames hackathon hosted by ETHGlobal has concluded. This article reviews the 10 award-winning projects.
The three-day Farcaster Frames hackathon “Frameworks” hosted by ETHGlobal has come to a close, with the announcement of the 10 winning projects.
Farcaster is a decentralized social protocol. Ethereum's founder, Vitalik, left Twitter and moved to Farcaster, maintaining a high level of activity. He stated at the ETHTaipei event, “I think one interesting aspect of the social field is that it has network effects, but at the same time, it also has anti-network effects. Twitter is a platform that gathers various groups of people, but it is also a gathering place for those who are genuinely annoying. I find that Farcaster has already accumulated a sufficient number of users and is interesting. On this platform, I can get higher-quality interactions, although it still needs improvement.”
Frames on Farcaster is a special feature with properties similar to social media embeds, equipped with Open Graph tags. It can display images and text as previews and can promote interactive elements through buttons, achieving dynamic user responses. In short, Frames gives posts richer interactive features, including various functions like NFT minting, voting, trading, subscribing, and more. Since the official launch of the Frames feature, it has ignited great enthusiasm and creativity among developers, and the development activities have continued to flourish.
ETHGlobal Farcaster Frames fosters creativity around its ecosystem, involving sectors such as infrastructure, data analysis, social, gaming, payments, and more. Below are introductions to the 10 projects:
FramX
FrameX combines the on-chain SPV infrastructure of the StationX protocol with Farcaster Frames. Specifically designed for Syndicates, venture DAOs, and asset managers, FrameX allows them to create an on-chain SPV (station) on StationX. They can achieve goals such as investing in startups, adding DeFi LPs, collecting NFTs, RWAs, etc., by issuing LP tokens to contributors.
Magic Frames
Magic Frames is a framework wizard for building user-customized Frames. It allows for the construction of frameworks that enable community participation in on-chain transactions without coding, even without leaving Warpcast.
CalCast
CalCast supports the creation and booking of calls or schedules in Farcaster through credit gatekeeping using Frames. The CalCast team states that using CalCast can achieve a better user experience and data ownership. CalCast itself serves as the booking feature in Farcaster.
Drifting Bottle
Drifting Bottle can be likened to a message-in-a-bottle and is a Frames social game that allows users to share or discover anonymous drifting bottles with messages. The identity of the bottle's author is only revealed when replying. Drifting Bottle later applies scarcity to the number of bottles sent or found each day, providing incentives and rewards for the game.
CastSense
CastSense offers personalized analytics for Farcaster users to better understand their engagement trends and follower activities.
Check-In Caster
Check-In Caster is a Check-in and Earn application that allows users to check in at their favorite places and integrates directly with Farcaster. That means, when posting on Warpcast, by using @checkin and adding a Google Maps link, users can check in on the Check-In Caster client app. Each check-in rewards users with unique location badges as NFTs and tokens.
Check-In Caster is establishing an interoperable infrastructure for restaurants, shops, and landmark buildings to create location-based loyalty programs.
become{AGI}
become{AGI} is a Frames-driven game centered around social interaction, with the goal of training AI models into AGI. The gameplay of become{AGI} revolves around enhancing AI models by training with the current dataset, structured as a 32-byte grid. Each byte contains a specific type of knowledge with varying degrees of rarity.
Serendipity Engine
Serendipity Engine is based on the “six degrees of separation” theory (which posits that any two people are connected by an average of six steps) and is a tool designed to help users discover these connections and connect with other users within the network. The Serendipity Engine uses a combination of user profiles, interests, and contact combinations to recommend other users whom the user might be interested in contacting.
Payrennial
Payrennial is a Warpcast-native payment Frames project. The aim of this project is to integrate seamless payment and fund request functionalities into Warpcast, allowing users to transact using ETH through “payment Frames”. For example, when Alice posts, she can input “payrennial.xyz/Alice” to post her personal payment Frame on Warpcast.
Frames Hub
Frames Hub analyzes Farcaster Frame trends and engagement, serving as the Frame analysis tool on Farcaster.
