BitMEX will introduce new quarterly futures contracts on September 10, 2024. These additions expand the platforms range of tradable assets and offer more opportunities for traders to lock in future prices.
The contracts will be available for key cryptocurrency pairs, enhancing BitMEXs futures market offerings.
BitMEX New Listings
The new contracts BitMEX will list include the following pairs: Cardano/Bitcoin (ADAZ24), Ether/Bitcoin (ETHZ24), Ripple/Bitcoin (XRPZ24), Ether/USD (ETHUSDZ24), Bitcoin/USD (XBTM25), and Bitcoin/USDT (XBTUSDTZ24), with settlement dates on December 27, 2024. Additionally, Bitcoin/USD (XBTM25) futures will be available, expiring on June 27, 2025.
Quarterly futures differ from perpetual futures in that they have an expiration date. On settlement, both buyers and sellers must fulfill the contract, regardless of the current price. Buyers profit if the settlement price is higher than the entry price, while sellers benefit if the price is lower.
The new contracts are currently visible on the platform, labeled as “Unlisted,” allowing traders to prepare for the upcoming changes. This move further solidifies BitMEXs position as a leading platform for cryptocurrency derivatives trading.
