Ethereum-based operating system ethOS has unveiled dGEN1, a hardware device for blockchain dApp interaction and running a light client. dGEN1 includes a browser and a built-in wallet. It also has a dedicated screen that shows transaction notifications and metadata during network interactions.
Derived from LineageOS and an Android fork, ethOS integrates its own Nimbus light client to ensure that user data is verified when using blockchain dApps without relying on trusted third-party RPCs, the firm said. ethOSs built-in browser supports IPFS and .eth domains.
The dGEN1 device is available for pre-order by minting an NFT on the Base Layer 2 network for 0.2 ETH ($520). The company expects to begin shipping devices by the second quarter of 2025. According to Basescan, there are currently about 630 users holding NFTs.
