Toncoin price rebound stalls amid criticism over ‘The Closed Network’

The Open Network faces a backlash following its January 21 announcement that requested all Telegram-based mini-apps to exclusively use TONs blockchain infrastructure by February 21, 2025.

The changes have forced Farm Frens to delay its FREN airdrop to February after The Open Network and Telegrams “unreasonable deadlines” forced the team to adjust their roadmap.

The Farm Frens team expressed disappointment over Telegram and its founders insincerity in allowing an Open Network to be “Closed.”

While broad market resilience could help the alt sustain the upswing, Telegram and TON blockchains criticism could restrict the anticipated rallies.

Furthermore, the latest movement of over 240K TON tokens to crypto exchanges increased market volatility and selling pressure.

This trend signals potential downward trends for TON price.

Ton Stat data confirms this narrative as daily token burns reduce.

The project burned only 5,044 coins yesterday, down from January 22 peaks of 15,805.

Furthermore, underperformance from Telegram-based projects such as Hamster Kombat and Notcoin have dwindled interest in Toncoin.
