Ripple Says ‘100% a Big Deal’—Congress Makes Historic Move for Crypto Clarity

U.S. lawmakers are advancing efforts to establish clear regulations for the cryptocurrency industry, following directives from President Donald Trumps recent executive order. Key figures from Congress and the Trump administration have signaled their commitment to collaborating in support of digital assets.

Crypto Czar David Sacks held a press conference on Feb. 4 focused on legislative steps to provide clarity for the crypto industry. Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse defended the effort, stating that critics were overlooking the broader significance of the discussion. “Any criticism of todays press conference is absolutely missing the forest for the trees,” Garlinghouse said, emphasizing:

Having the Chair of Senate Banking, the Chair of House Financial Services, the Chair of Senate Ag, and the Chair of House Ag join the Crypto Czar to commit to passing legislation for crypto clarity is 100% a big deal (and something we havent seen before).

Sacks appeared alongside Senator Tim Scott, Ranking Member of the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee; Representative French Hill, Chair of the House Financial Services Committee; Senator John Boozman, Ranking Member of the Senate Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry Committee; and Representative Glenn “GT” Thompson, Chair of the House Agriculture Committee.

The U.S. crypto regulatory environment appears to be shifting toward a more favorable stance. With a new Treasury Secretary, a newly appointed crypto czar, and a Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) chair replacing Gary Gensler, policymakers seem more open to addressing concerns that have long plagued the industry. Additionally, a newly established crypto task force, led by SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce, is expected to play a key role in shaping policy. The task force recently outlined 10 priorities for cryptocurrency regulations.

Stuart Alderoty, Ripple‘s chief legal officer, weighed in on the developments, specifically praising Peirce’s leadership in advocating for rational crypto regulations. Alderoty stated:

Throughout the former administrations war on crypto, Commissioner Peirce remained a steady voice for regulatory sanity.

As lawmakers and regulatory agencies work to bring clarity to the crypto space, industry leaders and market participants are closely watching to see how new policies will shape the future of digital assets in the U.S.
