Doodles Is Dropping DOOD Token on May 9, Heres What to Know

  • Doodles will launch its utility token DOOD on Solana, expanding beyond its original NFT identity.
  • DOOD enables avatar customization, voting rights, and access to exclusive content across the Doodles ecosystem.

Doodles, one of the NFT projects that has been the talk of the town since its inception, has now officially announced the launch date of its utility token, DOOD. May 9, 2025 was chosen as an important moment to release this token on the Solana network.

This step is not only about adding another digital asset to the Web3 ecosystem; it also shows clearly that Doodles is changing its emphasis from only NFT collections to something far more general.

Later, the DOOD token will have other uses including avatar customization in Doodles 2, community vote participation, and access to premium digital material opening. Interestingly, the distribution of this token is meant to be somewhat varied: from old NFT owners, new users, to funds for ecosystem growth also get a piece. There are 10 billion tokens in total supply.

More than Just a Token, Doodles Builds a New Style Ecosystem

On the other hand, the echo of the DOOD launch did not come alone. Binance has announced that it will include DOOD in the DOODUSDT futures trading platform with leverage of up to 50x. It will even be available on Binance Alpha.

The funding rate is capped at +2.00% and -2.00%, indicating high anticipation in terms of liquidity. It‘s not just a regular launch—it’s a serious step towards making DOOD a bridge between the creative world of NFTs and the more complex world of digital finance.

However, the token launch is not free from internal dynamics. In early May, Jordan Castro—one of the founders of Doodles—declared that Doodles is “no longer an NFT project.” This statement immediately sparked a backlash in the community.

Some felt adrift, they first came into Doodles because of the promise and worth of the NFT universe. This caused the Doodles collections basic price on the secondary market to momentarily fall. The team then swiftly made clear that, while they want to explore Web3, they are still commited to the NFT space.

Furthermore, Doodles is also getting serious about building a bridge between the virtual and real worlds. They have partnered with Adidas and Pharrell Williams to launch an exclusive digital apparel collection called the “Pharrell Pack.”

This collection can be used in the virtual world or the metaverse, exclusively for Doodles NFT holders. Imagine if the digital items you wear in the virtual world also appear in global campaigns for brands like Adidas—thats no longer a dream.

Not only that, they also collaborated with Camp, a family-experience retail company, to hold an interactive offline event. The goal is clear: to bring the characters and stories from the Doodles world into a physical space that can be touched and felt directly by children and parents. Its quite unique indeed, seeing an NFT project that usually plays on a screen suddenly appear in the real world like an interactive play area.
