Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong said on the X program that the UK‘s decision to ban the company’s advertising had sparked strong reactions and showed that the ban had actually touched a nerve.
The renowned CEO criticized UK regulators for still treating cryptocurrencies as a form of gambling, stating that this view is outdated and incompatible with reality.
Armstrong added that the main message of the banned Coinbase ad was that the traditional financial system no longer works for many people and that cryptocurrencies offer a better and more inclusive alternative.
Making a comparison with the US, Armstrong stated that similar advertisements are also published in the US, but the UK lags behind in this regard and continues to ignore the potential of cryptocurrencies to benefit its citizens.
He added that the UKs efforts to ban or censor cryptocurrency advertising have actually helped cryptocurrencies gain greater adoption and strength.
Coinbase officially launched its UK operations in February.
