We're pleased to announce that Bitfinex users can deposit and withdraw Tether tokens (USDt) on the Bitfinex platform using USDt held on Hermez Network Layer 2 Solution, from 20/04/21 at 01:00 PM UTC. The addition of this service follows the integration of USDt on Hermez's layer 2 scaling solution for Ethereum, which is designed to improve scalability on the protocol and enables cheaper transactions. The launch of USDt on Hermez will help solve challenges relating to scalability and high transaction fees on the Ethereum network amid surging user activity. The Hermez zk-rollup, which was announced at EDCON in August 2020, is a layer 2 construction that scales Ethereum by rolling multiple transfers into a single transaction.
