Scam Involving Attractive Female Analysts and Fake Platforms

WikiBit received feedback from a user, referred to as 007 in the following text, stating that he was unable to withdraw his assets from an exchange named BIBOXOTC.COM.

According to 007's account, he encountered someone on the internet named Jane Milka, who claimed to be an experienced financial and currency analyst/trader. Jane Milka had an impressive appearance (as seen from the social media links provided by 007) and invited 007 to learn about

cryptocurrency

over-the-counter (OTC) trading and conduct transactions on a broker platform she recommended.

To expedite 007's profit generation on the BIBOXOTC platform, Jane Milka spontaneously offered to provide 2000 USDT to 007. Subsequently, 007, guided by her personal market trend analysis and node calculations, engaged in trading under her guidance. This is the recharge voucher that Jane Milka provided to 007:

Under the guidance of Jane Milka, 007 deposited 38.2K pounds into the BIBOX platform as his initial capital. After several months of trading, when his profits reached 255K USDT, 007 decided to make a withdrawal. However, his withdrawal request was rejected.

007 was informed that he needed to pay 55K USDT as “25% personal income tax,” even when he requested only to withdraw his initial capital, it was still denied. Later, Jane Milka “covered” this “personal income tax” for 007 and requested 007 to pay her 2,000 USDT.

However, when 007 attempted to withdraw USDT again, he was told to pay “processing fees,” with BIBOXOTC customer service repeatedly claiming that they hadn't received the funds. Then, 007 made a total of 4 payments, amounting to 75,00 USDT.

In the end, 007 attempted to withdraw USDT, but the funds did not arrive in his account. After inquiring about this, he was once again asked to pay additional fees. Ultimately, 007's account and all his information on the platform were deleted.

007 discovered that Mathias Andersson, who had also been deceived, was on Jane Milka's Facebook account.

How to Avoid Such Scams?

BIBOXOTC is clearly a scam, and there are obvious signs in this process that should raise alarm bells:

  • When strangers proactively offer to help you make money and invest on your behalf.

  • Repeatedly demanding deposits and using various excuses to hinder withdrawals.

WikiBit's analysts have identified several issues with the BIBOXOTC platform after their experience:

    1. The domain name for the BIBOXOTC platform is BiboxOTC.com, but the platform frequently uses the logo of the

    cryptocurrency exchange

Bibox, which may mislead users into thinking they are the same entity.

    • 2. Compared to legitimate exchanges, this platform has fewer features, poor interface design, and both the web and mobile versions have the same interface.

      3. Deposit addresses are not new. When we tested registration on an account, we found that the deposit address was not a fresh one. Legitimate exchanges typically provide a new address for each user to facilitate deposits.

For most users, using WikiBit is a good way to reduce risks. Users can check the qualifications of exchanges and project teams through WikiBit before using blockchain services.

WikiBIT is a globally leading blockchain industry information service platform. Leveraging massive data accumulation and advanced financial technology, it provides comprehensive references to investors from multiple dimensions, including regulatory status, licensing qualifications, risk information, credit ratings, on-site inspections, and more, helping investors effectively mitigate risks. WikiBIT has pioneered the “Eye of Heaven” rating system, which utilizes advanced algorithms and an intuitive format to comprehensively display information such as a trader's professional qualifications, user reputation, and industry influence, helping investors reduce decision-making costs.

Using exchanges as an example, if a user cannot find information about an exchange like BIBOXOTC on the WikiBit website, it is advisable to exercise caution and, ideally, refrain from using that exchange.

Searching for exchanges on the WikiBit website provides users with a comprehensive rating of that exchange from various dimensions, including licensing status, influence, and more. Additionally, WikiBit's web pages often include official website links for the respective exchanges. Users are encouraged to verify that external websites are not phishing sites before proceeding. Utilizing WikiBit can indeed help users reduce risks and decision-making costs effectively.
