Joshua Eaton has been named Deputy General Counsel of the Binance exchange.
According to the trading site, Eaton has extensive expertise, having previously worked as a Deputy United States Attorney in the Northern District of California and in the United States Army for over 20 years.
With his active duty behind him, Eaton has worked with the DOJ, offering critical assistance to multiple Presidentially appointed U.S. Attorneys across the country, as well as Army commanders both at home and on the battlefield.
“The legal team at Binance is further strengthened by the dynamism and experience that Josh brings to our continuous efforts to protect users and manage risks,” said Hon Ng, General Counsel whom Eaton will serve alongside at the trading exchange. “Josh was instrumental in his leadership role while in Government, developing its standard-bearing ethics and compliance practices, guiding it through some of the most sensitive and complex issues facing any government organization, and supporting its growth into one of the preeminent federal prosecutors offices in the United States.”
Eaton has long been a supporter of blockchain technology, as seen by his stint as Deputy Attorney General, when he investigated bad actors who used the associated cryptocurrency for personal advantage. The Attorney's office in the Northern District of California became known for its high-profile enforcement actions thanks to his efforts and that of his team.
Eaton stated that he joined Binance “because to its commitment to this purpose as well as its track record in cooperating with law enforcement driven by transparency, integrity, and user protection.” I'm thrilled to be a part of this talented, enthusiastic, and mission-driven team.
This is not the first time Binance Exchange has hired experienced regulators from top government agencies. Eaton will work alongside Steven McWhirter, Tigran Gambaryan, and Matthew Price in the exchange's legal affairs, supporting global compliance, investigations, and law enforcement coordination activities.
