PreContract Hard Fork on opBNB Testnet Scheduled for August 14th

BNB Chain had announced that the PreContract hard fork for the opBNB testnet is scheduled to take place at block height 5114294. The estimated time for this event is 14:00 (Beijing time) on August 14th. Full node operators of opBNB are required to complete the upgrade before the specified time.

This upgrade encompasses several changes, including renaming the pre-deployed contract “WBNB” to Wrapped BNB and setting the symbol as “WBNB.” Additionally, the pre-deployed contract for GovernanceToken with the address 4200000000000000000000000000000000000042 will be removed.

Binance Introduces Trading Pairs for SEI and CYBER Tokens

Both CyberConnect and SEI are projects that have participated in Binance Launchpool. For both projects, 3% of their total token supplies have been allocated for participation in the Launchpool program. Notably, the initial circulating supply of CYBER accounts for 11.04% of its total token supply, while SEI's initial circulating supply represents 18% of its total token supply.

The CYBER airdrop will be available for claiming starting at 12:00 PM on August 15th. The claiming period will span 30 days. A total of 2.4 million tokens, accounting for 2.4% of the total supply, will be available for distribution during the airdrop. Genesis' Final Conditions for Bondholders Nearing Deadline, No Further Extension of Adjustment Period

During Wednesday's hearing, lawyers representing the bankrupt cryptocurrency lending firm Genesis announced that the company has extended the mediation period with its creditors for the final time. Company lawyer Sean O'Neal stated that if an agreement is not reached by August 16th, Genesis will proceed with its existing bankruptcy plan with certain modifications.

Binance Suspends Digital Asset Withdrawals for Dutch Customers

Last month, Binance announced that it would cease its operations in the Netherlands due to its failure to complete the VASP registration required by Dutch regulations. The exchange informed its Dutch customers that they must withdraw their held cryptocurrency assets by August 17th. As a result, over 100,000 users have already transferred their cryptocurrency holdings to other platforms.

SEC Submits Opening Brief in the Lawsuit Against Ripple

On Wednesday, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced that it had sent a letter to the Southern District of New York (SDNY) requesting an intermediate appeal of Judge Torres' summary judgment on July 13th in the SEC vs. Ripple case. In the filed document, the SEC stated that Ripple must respond by August 16, 2023, one week after the submission of the letter. The SEC proposed submitting an opening brief outlining the appeal on August 18th.
