YouTube taps PayPal to bring stablecoin payments to its platform
YouTube has begun allowing creators in the US to choose PayPals flagship stablecoin, PYUSD, for their payout option, Fortune reported Thursday.
The integration, confirmed by PayPal‘s head of crypto, May Zabaneh, simplifies transactions without YouTube directly handling crypto. The feature uses PayPal’s existing payout services, which were already employed by YouTube for paying gig workers and contractors.
PayPal, a pioneer in integrating crypto within tech platforms, launched its stablecoin PYUSD in 2023, aiming to enhance financial transactions across its products, including Venmo.
