Bitfinex is pleased to announce that it will support the Ethereum Merge, which is expected to occur between 10-20 September 2022. The Merge marks the transition that Ethereum will undergo to take it from its current Proof-of-Work consensus mechanism to a Proof-of-Stake model. The move to PoS is one of the most significant milestones in the original Ethereum roadmap. Customer balances will be kept secure throughout the Merge process. In order to execute a smooth transition at the Merge, a snapshot will be taken of all ETH balances and margin positions, during which time trading, deposits and withdrawals for ETH and all Ethereum-based tokens will be temporarily suspended to allow for account reconciliation.We will keep customers updated throughout this process.
