Layer 1 blockchain Pharos has announced the launch of its AtlanticOcean testnet, moving it closer to achieving its goal of bringing billions of dollars in real-world asset (RWA) liquidity onchain. The latest Pharos testnet comes bundled with new features and significant improvements in terms of speed, memory, and scalability.

Building Upon Billions

While the RWA industry has famously been predicted to reach trillions of dollars by 2030, in the here and now, its already worth billions and is growing steadily. Pharos aims to add a few more billions to that number, and has already reached that threshold in terms of the number of transactions made on its original testnet, which went live in May. 3 billion transactions have been racked up to date and that figure is poised to grow further now that the AtlanticOcean testnet is live.

The latest testnet is designed to closely mimic the form and function of the mainnet itself complete with support for Pharos‘ PoS tokenomic model, based on a supply of 1B tokens that will be used for staking and validator voting. One of the reasons why Pharos’ Layer 1 is capable of supporting RWAs at scale, incidentally, is due to the modular architecture it features that allows more transactions to be processed simultaneously through its hybrid parallel execution utilizing DAG-based and Block-STM V1 models.

Two Testnets Become One

Because AtlanticOcean is radically different to its predecessor, it will run in parallel with the original testnet for a while to ensure continuity and allow users to switch to the latest build. This will enable ecosystem partners to migrate gradually, with top-performing community validators invited to onboard.

According to Pharos Network Co-Founder and CEO Wish Wu, AtlanticOcean will “push the limits of scale, memory, and speed before real assets flow onchain. Were focused on the digital rails for liquidity to move freely between institutions, protocols, and people worldwide.”

The mainnet has been scheduled for Q1 2026, which leaves ample time in which to put AtlanticOcean to the test and set the stage for the in-flow of RWA liquidity thats expected to follow. Testnet features that ecosystem partners will soon be able to try out include cache-friendly storage via PharosDB and an expanded developer toolset for more composable and complex testing scenarios.

As for the inspiration behind the new testnet‘s name, it’s drawn from the role empirically played by the Atlantic Ocean in connecting continents through trade and exploration. Pharos is looking to perform a similar role with its AtlanticOcean testnet, in this case by uniting global liquidity sources onchain.

With the likes of Morpho Labs, Bitverse, and Euclid already onboard as partners and integrations with OKX Wallet, Bitget Wallet, Hemera Explorer, and Goldsky secured, Pharos is well placed to launch with broad support from day one. Its now inviting RWA partners, institutions, and builders to put AtlanticOcean through its paces and see for themselves what the Layer 1 is capable of delivering in terms of scalability and delivering deep liquidity.
