EigenLayer Raises Restaking Limits Again, Anticipates Increased Airdrop Expectations

EigenLayer is an Ethereum-based protocol that introduces the concept of restaking native staked ETH or using Liquidity Staking Tokens (LST). Users have the option to participate in the EigenLayer smart contract to re-stake their ETH or LST, thereby extending cryptographic economic security to other applications on the network, with the potential to earn additional rewards.

EigenLayer has successfully completed two funding rounds, raising a total of $64.5 million. Prominent investment institutions such as Polychain Capital, Blockchain Capital, Coinbase Ventures, and others have participated in these rounds.

On August 22nd, EigenLayer once again raised the liquidity restaking limits for stETH, rETH, and cbETH. The specific criteria dictate that when the restaking amount of any of these three assets reaches 100,000 tokens, the protocol deposits will be temporarily paused once more.

Within two hours of the protocol's reopening, the staking limit was met again, causing on-chain gas fees to surge to a peak of 150.

According to data from Dune Analytics, among the addresses participating in EigenLayer, 47% have received Arbitrum airdrops, and 32.78% have received Ampleforth airdrops. It's evident that a significant portion of addresses staking in EigenLayer have also received airdrops from other projects.
