As global markets face rising turmoil, Bitcoin (BTC) is proving to be more resilient than traditional financial assets like the S&P 500, according to Real Visions chief crypto analyst Jamie Coutts.
In a post on X, Coutts highlighted that Bitcoin‘s recent correction has been smaller than the S&P 500’s — despite BTC being more than twice as volatile.
“BTC with 2.5x the volatility of the S&P 500 experienced a drawdown of 28% vs. the S&P 500s 19%. That is a massive OUTPERFORMANCE,” Coutts wrote.
He added that this kind of performance underlines Bitcoins evolving role as a hedge against fiat instability and a stronger store of value in times of macroeconomic distress.
Bitcoin vs. Traditional Markets: A Paradigm Shift?
Coutts suggested that while most risk assets are suffering sharp declines, Bitcoins relative strength signals a deeper shift in how investors view the digital asset:
“What is happening right now is epic. Things are breaking… this time it will be nation states.”
He believes that Bitcoin could soon take on a more central role in the global financial system, potentially becoming a settlement layer or even a collateral asset in future monetary systems.
