SlowMist has posted information on social media platforms, stating that the Mixin Network cloud service provider's database has been attacked, involving approximately $200 million. SlowMist is currently assisting with the investigation.
According to Mixin's official disclosure, on September 23, 2023, in Hong Kong time, the database of Mixin Network's cloud service provider was hacked, involving $200 million in funds. The team has reached out to Google and the blockchain security company SlowMist for assistance in the investigation.
Mixin Network's deposit and withdrawal services have been temporarily suspended, but all nodes have agreed to reopen the services once the vulnerabilities are fixed. During this period, regular transfers are not affected.
Following the attack on the Mixin Network cloud service provider's database, Mixin founder Feng Xiaodong responded in a live broadcast, stating that the damaged assets mainly consisted of core Bitcoin assets. Assets such as BOX and XIN did not experience significant theft, and specific details of the attack cannot be disclosed at this time.
Regarding the stolen assets, the official statement indicates that a maximum of 50% will be compensated, while the remaining portion will be compensated in the form of bond tokens, with the official planning to repurchase them using profits in the future. Additionally, Feng Xiaodong mentioned that Mixin will launch a new system for user asset migration, but for now, only half of a user's balance can be transferred.
