The current Ethereum mainnet is planning to change from a Proof-of-Work to Proof-of-Stake consensus mechanism. This will be completed by merging the existing Ethereum Proof-of-Work protocol with the Beacon Proof-of-Stake system. This upgrade is expected to happen in the third or fourth quarter of 2022. Bitifnex is not planning to pause any trading activities while this upgrade is happening. In addition, trading on the ETH/USDt, ETH/BTC & ETH/EURt perpetual contracts will continue as usual and follow the underlying of Proof-of-Stake after implementation.
